excitement and global heritage. We chronicle MMA from its origins,
when Pankration was introduced in the Greek Olympic Games. It is
considered the first all-encompassing fighting system in history. We
illustrate the concepts of Brazil’s Vale Tudo, and Japan’s Shooto,
which combined the elements of various martial arts. Together, they
pioneered today’s Mixed Martial Arts revolution.
